Dancing Spirits Farm is a regenerative worm farm creating biologically active soil amendments with the help of Nature’s original recyclers: worms.
Through careful vermiculture practices, we produce premium worm castings and soil inputs that help gardeners, growers, and land stewards cultivate healthier, more resilient landscapes.
Every handful of healthy soil carries an ancient process of renewal. Nature can take up to 500 years to form one inch of topsoil, yet modern practices are eroding an estimated 36 billion tons of topsoil every year.
We exist to help reverse that loss - by transforming organic resources into living soil amendments, sharing practical education, and helping people reconnect with the living systems beneath their feet.
ROOTED IN SOIL STEWARDSHIP
This land has a long history of vermiculture. For decades, it was home to Yelm Earthworm & Castings Farm, a regional source for red worms, worm castings, worm tea, and composting systems.
When the farm became available for new stewardship, we saw more than a business opportunity. We saw a responsibility to care for the soil, honor the farm’s legacy, and continue the work of turning organic resources into living soil.
Today, Dancing Spirits Farm carries that legacy forward by raising worms, creating biologically active amendments, and welcoming more people into the practice of soil stewardship.
from practice to place
Our sister company, Earthdance Organics, was founded in 2011 as a regenerative lawn and landscape care practice focused on restoring soil health for homes and commercial landscapes. From the beginning, worm castings were foundational to our approach - brewed into biologically active teas and applied to landscapes as part of our organic lawn and plant care programs.
While sourcing more worm castings, we learned the farm was preparing to close. We found ourselves standing at the edge of a legacy worth protecting.
Dancing Spirits Farm grew from that moment: a dedicated place to raise worms, produce the castings we trust most, offer education, and make living soil biology available online, in person, and at the farm.
WHY "DANCING SPIRITS"
The Yelm prairie was originally known as “Shelm” by the Nisqually people, a name inspired by the shimmering heat waves that appear to dance across the land in summer. That image - movement, rhythm, and relationship - perfectly reflects our philosophy.
Soil is alive.
Land is dynamic.
Regeneration is a dance with Nature.
At Dancing Spirits Farm, we honor the unseen relationships beneath our feet and the living systems that sustain us all. Our farm is a place where people and nature connect - through soil, education, community, and the simple grounding experience of a handful of living earth.
