Our work supports gardeners, growers, and land stewards in cultivating healthy, resilient landscapes by partnering with nature’s systems.

In a single handful of healthy soil lives an ancient process. Nature can take up to 500 years to form one inch of topsoil, yet modern practices are eroding an estimated 36 billion tons of topsoil every year. Healthy soil is the foundation of food systems, ecosystems, and resilient communities—and it is disappearing.

Dancing Spirits Farm exists to help reverse that loss.

This land has a long history of vermiculture. For decades, it was home to Yelm Earthworm & Castings Farm, a well-known regional source for red worms, worm castings, worm tea, and composting systems serving both local gardeners and customers nationwide. The farm was recognized for its organic practices and deep commitment to soil biology.

When the farm became available for new stewardship, we saw more than a business opportunity—we saw a responsibility to carry its legacy forward.

Our sister company, Earthdance Organics, founded in 2010, began as a regenerative lawn and landscape care practice focused on restoring depleted soils for homes and commercial landscapes. Through years of hands-on soil restoration, one truth became clear: healthy landscapes depend on access to high-quality, living soil biology.

The need for consistent, locally produced worm castings led us back to the source.

Dancing Spirits Farm was created as a dedicated soil production and education hub, allowing us to steward the land directly, produce regenerative inputs at scale, and make them available both online and in person at the farm.

The Yelm prairie was originally known as “Shelm” by the Nisqually people—a name inspired by the shimmering heat waves that appear to dance across the land in summer. That image—movement, rhythm, and relationship—perfectly reflects our philosophy.
